Artist statement

I dance to ground myself; to find balance; to remind myself of joy and happiness in the smaller moments of life. I am either inspired by so much that, at times, it is overwhelming or so little that it is underwhelming. And yet, I find solace in that because it is just another presence of grounding, balance, and joy that dance provides me. I strive to continue learning and growing throughout my exploration of dance. I like to find the cross-sections of playfulness and seriousness. I like to incorporate social movements into my work because I believe dance, at the end of the day, is a form of communication that all can partake in.

teaching statement

As a teacher, I value mutual respect, hard work, and enjoying the process. I am a very interactive teacher; I put the energy into the room that I want to receive; I dance full out and then step back to watch intensely and provide audible encouragement throughout the class. I want the dancers to learn, grow, and enjoy. I believe that a dance teacher is more than just a coach, but a guidance counselor and role model.
